On Friday 9th Feb, Priorians U15 Development team travelled to Raphoe for their next match. Both teams were undefeated so this was expected to be a tough match for both.

Raphoe started the match the brightest and were 2-0 up in the first quarter. In the 2nd qtr Prior’s defence of Kara, Suzanne, Nicola and Charlotte stemmed the Raphoe attacks and Prior started to push further up the field, the half ending 2-0 to Raphoe.  In the 3rd qtr, Prior midfield of Jessica, Madison & Evie began to find openings in the Raphoe defence and Prior had a couple of chances with Zoe and then Gaby having opportunities to score. However, the Raphoe keeper made excellent saves. At the other end, Prior’s defence stood firm against sustained pressure with Colleen making a number of saves. The 4th qtr was very similar to the 3rd  with both teams showing attacking flair. It was Prior who scored next when Madison received the ball outside the D and drove forward striking the ball into the corner of the net, 2-1 to Raphoe. With time running out Katie went on several runs down the right and on one of the occasions produced a great pass across the D and Macy struck the ball first time but the keeper made another superb save. The match ended 2-1 to Raphoe.

Priorians would like to thank the Raphoe team and coaches for an excellent game and wish them well for the rest of their campaign. Also we would like to thank Rosie and Sarah our umpires for the way they conducted the match. Lastly, once again the Prior support was immense and is greatly appreciated by the team.

A special mention to Charlotte on making her debut. Well done.

The coaches POM was Suzanne Craig who put in a strong display to stop the Raphoe attack down the right.

Priorians coach was delighted with the team’s display and the way the girls kept fighting right to the end of the match.
