😍🎉 2s MATCH REPORT 🎉😍
Our mighty twos 🦾 took to Raphoe this week to take on Raphoe who came out as a strong side within the first quarter👀 This caught our girls on the back foot🐾 but they were able to take this in our stride🏃♀️ as our defence were able to stand and keep the game level by the first quarters whistle.💯
Determined and level headed priorians came out stronger⚡ in the second quarter✌ and with some brilliant balls through the girls were just unlucky in the final pass🥅 Raphoe were just as vigorous and were able to earn a multitude of corners😤 but our tough defence and unbelievable goalie Miles Moore💥 were able to prevent the team from conceding. Just as Priorians were on the attack Raphoe were able to catch the girls on the break and found the back of the net. 👎
Beginning the second half Prior was set on hearing the ball hit the backboard 💯 as they slickly moved the ball around the pitch🔗 and Kathryn Rough placed strong balls into space and our superstar rocket Jamee McCauley was able to make some unbelievable runs passing Raphoe’s defence🏃♀️🌪 but was unfortunate to not find the net. As well as this our girls were able to obtain some corners this quarter but sadly the ball couldn’t find its way across the line💔
In the final quarter Priorians heads were still held high☝ as they pushed with all their might to beat the Raphoes defensive line❌. Jamee continued to place pressure on their defence but Raphoes keeper was firm⛔. A chance came for Lucy Thompson in this quarter who was unlucky in her shot but was able to win the girls a penalty corner.👌 The girls then were a player down but they did not let this affect their play as they kept up their attacking style pressuring Raphoe as though they had all 11 women🥊. Although the girls played clean hockey with an immense amount of chances the final whistle blew and left the game 1-0 to Raphoe.
Player of the match was Cody, with some great tackles and defending !
2s MATCH REPORT
The Mighty 2’s set off on Saturday for their 1st cup game of the season against Limavady! Despite knowing this game wasn’t going to be an easy one Prior were ready to rock excited to play and in great spirits eager for a win.
From the starting whistle the Prior girls were determined to put pressure on and keep possession of the ball. The girls started off their game strong with some lovely play and great short sharp - passing. The ball was being transitioned beautifully from left to right and around the back. Limavady didn’t hold off though and kept our defenders on their toes. The Prior girls fought hard and were attacking with momentum. Despite a few attempts at goal, the 1st quarter finished 0-0.
2nd quarter saw the Prior girls continue to work hard. Brilliant link-up play from defence to midfield then saw the ball being picked up by Beth O'Neill who gave a lovely weighted pass to forward Jamee McCauley ahead who ran her socks off for a 1v1 with the keeper. The keeper ran out to top D but Jamee, using her skill swiftly passed her and slotted the ball in the back of the net. Prior 1-0!
The 3rd quarter saw much more of the same fighting energy with a few more chances at goals for our girls. These chances came from fabulous switching across the pitch which created space for our speedy midfielders and forwards to run onto. The Prior girls tested the home defence when our amazing midfielder Bee McCauley took a hard hit at top D but unfortunately it was saved by Limavady keeper. We kept fighting and were awarded a few PC’s however couldn’t add to the score line! Prior still 1-0 up
The girls were determined to keep their lead in the final quarter but were under a lot of pressure when Limavady were awarded 3 PC’s after creating chances from their high player. Prior didn’t let their head drop and with some amazing saves from Miley in goals and a strong defence meant we were able to control the ball nicely and clear it out of the danger zone calmly ! The rest of the quarter saw lots of positive play and everyone kept the work rate and energy up until the very end. With 2 minutes to go, Limavady decided to take their keeper off adding an extra player in field to put pressure on the Prior girls however we were able to keep our lead when the final whistle blew! PRIOR WIN 1-0… What a game
Player of the match goes to Lauren O'Neill - for a fab performance in midfield
This was a brilliant result for our Mighty 2s who never gave up and played amazing hockey from start to finish! An all-round strong team performance! Special mention goes to our fabulous supporters at the sideline who kept us going during the whole match. It means a lot
